I've been trying to come up with some jobs to teach my Berner to do. She has decided she will be the resident barker and protector of our property. I'd like to fire her from that job and give her something better to do.
I have been playing with her and training her to do all sorts of things since she is such a sponge for learning. She is 2 years old. We take her to the doggy park once a week - some times twice. My boyfriend has end stage renal failure so some days aren't good. When that happens I take her out to her play area I have set aside in our back yard just for her. We work on things I have trained her to do the normal sit, stay, down, and I've added whisper, crawl, shake, high five and going backwards. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I havent taught these yet, but I have seen videos of teaching to put toys away, help bring laundry to the washing machine (both of these I will try to teach once my puppy has the basics) there is play dead, puzzle toys ( depending on what ones you purchase they aren't too expensive) I have seen videos on youtube of larger breed dogs help with chores. Itll provide her with the challenge of learning something new and help you out ( as long as she doesnt like to eat socks!)
